The barrels appear to be well made. However, I ordered the wrong size. My 6 year old son is 46 inches tall and weighs 48 pounds but I ordered a size L 10-12. I managed to tighten the drawstring to keep them from falling off (and still allowing him to breathe), but they go well below the knees. ... Obviously I didn't read closely enough (it was a last second purchase when I realized he had outgrown his old swimming trunks). I had to buy size M. We're keeping them for next summer and will probably buy another pair this season. in the meantime.
