Made of plastic and not very strong. Strongly curved when sitting, folds easily when you press the lid. The lid itself can be moved easily even when it is closed - the hinge is made entirely of plastic and is not stable. The slow closing mechanism is VERY slow and makes a lot of clicking and popping noises when lowering. It also offers too much opening resistance, especially with a thin and light seat. The fittings are metal and rust is a problem in the bathroom. Look elsewhere!
