The drip tray is flat and worse, its four corners are slightly angled so anything above the thinnest layer of water will slosh from side to side creating an imbalance in handling and the risk of splashing when entering or exiting the oven. This is a large pot and needs enough water to fill the bottom of the pot, but that's a problem! The volume of water combined with the slope of the side of this flat tray easily splashes from side to side, so you have to be very careful and move slowly so as not to lose water, sometimes hot water (!), when handling the tray . Compared to the skillets we have used in the past this is definitely a design flaw and I would return them if I had an alternative or could find an overall design that I prefer for safer cooking.
