Don't buy this - it doesn't work at all. Pay a little more for a better product. Poaching takes 8 minutes as the holes in the metal bowl allow enough steam into the area with the lid. In boiling salted water with a little vinegar, it takes 2 minutes to boil an egg. But it releases enough steam to burn your fingers if you try to remove the eggshells (maybe not this way). Egg cups are non-stick: cheap plastic that eggs will stick to, even with a thick coating of olive oil. Also, the addition of olive oil adds calories, defeating the purpose of poaching and the eggs. I'll keep looking for the elusive magic poacher as this one goes to goodwill but it was only $15. JB
