Works well and is an effective communications solution

This is a product that will work well when set up correctly. The learning curve seemed long to set up a connection with one side open for access and the other side acting as a station for the local router. One weird issue was that the ethernet cable lock somehow failed and I had to poke a few holes in the device and wrap the cable around it to keep it from falling out. It's probably right in the middle of the antenna. I turned Airmax off, set both devices to a fixed frequency, both at 20MHz, forced the station to only use the correct Nanostation Lok M2 access point. The communication parameters must be identical if you want to use the access point both as a bridge connection to the station and as a local access point for other devices. It took a while to get it right, but it handles a distance of about 600 feet to the barn very well. The nano station is actually inside, so the system isn't in perfect line of sight. But it works very well and gives the local router practically all the available bandwidth that a wired connection offers. Now we have to see if it lasts a few years without falling off every now and then. It replaces the old unbalanced Engenius connection with a local router that just isn't reliable enough for that connection as the router can't reliably restore it and fails about once a week. Distance is not a problem. The power setting for this can be adjusted to the legal limit and is capable of tying miles. I also recommend surge protectors with a wire connected to building ground for device safety and longevity.

Pros
  • Good product for the price
