This type of job is best for tools and equipment

These tools do what they are supposed to do which is remove barbs from the pipe so you can remove the connector from the pipe. But they can't always help you to remove the coolant connector from the coolant tube. The reason they can't always help is that with coolant fittings that have been on the pipe for a long time, most of the time their internal o-rings are welded to the tube, making the coolant fitting fittings not easily removable. On my '07 Yukon, I found it best to use a hacksaw blade by hand to cut the old hardware on the barb retainers and slide the white plastic barb ring from the port down into the tube. , and disconnect the connector by twisting. After removing the old coolant fitting, I cleaned the coolant tube with 400 grit sandpaper to remove oxidation, wiped off the dust, and then lubricated the tube with silicone grease before installing the new connector. When I tested this tool on the new connectors, it worked great. Another tip I have is to put some lube on the tool to help it glide when removing the fittings. Hope this tip helps.
