Review on ⚡️ Klein Tools NCVT-3 Voltage Tester: Dual Range Non-Contact Pen with AC Testing & Built-in Flashlight by Gary Lucas

Good product; but don't drop it

Hey guys, I had three Klein Tools IP67 voltage testers. I liked the accuracy and sensitivity that helped me reliably and safely identify conductors. This has been my go-to tester for years and the amount of light it puts out is outstanding. The beep is loud enough to work with live electrical equipment and the voltage display, which doubles as a battery indicator, is very useful. Now my problem: drop it and that's it! My very first IP67 testers I bought years ago, maybe when they first came out they worked great for a few years, survived my normal working environment and survived a few accidental drops, weather out of my hand or out of my pocket, what happens (however, none of the falls were higher than 6 feet). ) until it finally stopped working, the flash worked fine, but the tester does not respond to live conductors. This happened about two years ago. Then I bought my second IP67 with confidence, I have been using Klein Tools for over 20 years and I still use many of my Klein tools for work every day. My then-new IP67 "second" didn't fall more than two feet as I knelt in front of the outlet, accidentally falling out of my pocket (happens for the best of us) onto the concrete floor. My then new IP67 "second" stopped working and turned back into a very expensive flashlight. Didn't have time to prove I hadn't dropped it 7ft so this time I ordered one from Revain which arrived promptly. My now new IP67 'third' worked well and I was very careful with it, never dropping it, holding onto it when using it and even making a special pocket for it in my Klein Tools bag which it was made for holds. I dropped it about two weeks ago. I thought I'd put it in a neat bag when instead I let it slide past him and hit the floor (&^%$@#^%#%), you can only imagine the disappointment in yourself. As I got closer to grab him, he passed out as he fell. Turned it back on and came to life, the flash also caught fire, went to test it on the conductor of life and the LED indicators started working but there was no beep. Turned it on and off several times, nothing. I checked the batteries, nothing, tapped them lightly several times, nada. This is a silent flash voltage tester. I guess I shouldn't complain at this point as at least my IP67 "third" works and I still use it. But I wanted to share my experience with other people and warn them if you drop your IP67. Klein Tools is an excellent company and I have been a loyal customer and end user for years. They may have changed the factory for this particular product, or changed the design and/or materials used in its manufacture, as small changes in plastic manufacturing can result in harder or brittle plastic or the weld quality of the electronic circuit board and other components has deteriorated. changed. I don't know exactly, but since I bought my very first IP67 to the one I have now, something has changed with the quality standard. I can stop buying IP67 "fourth". when i do; I hope this lasts longer than the second and third. Thank you for reading.
