Bought this larger door for my 4.5 lb poodle (believe it or not). We put the smaller one in and he was scared of it because he had a hard plastic door that could smack his bottom when he walked through it and he didn't like it dragging down his back when he got out. It was clear plastic, which I think he would appreciate. However, this is a softer vinyl door with a matte finish. It's easier for him to open it and he actually prefers to just open the corner of it and pull out because it bends a bit. However, he was stubborn and took about 3 weeks to get used to. But now he comes and goes outside whenever he wants. The edges have a protective strip all around, which seals the edges very well and keeps insects and weather out. I would recommend.
