They are shaped and the pins are rounded and glossy lacquered. Due to the curvature of the support shaft, the center is higher than the rest of the pedal. Combine both problems and they are slippery without a very soft sole and even then my foot slipped when walking uphill. I don't know what I expected from a $13 pedal. On the other hand, they are not easy. My left pedal weighed 7.81 ounces and my right pedal weighed 6.99 ounces. Not a big deal but between that and the slippery feeling I got my cracked pedal back until I found something better. This can be good for children.
