We have never used this pitcher for anything other than filtered water and have never put it in the dishwasher - not once, and yet there is some gross buildup on the lid. See image. rev. Stainless steel should not degrade over time. What's really disappointing is that we contacted the company to let them know and they wouldn't send us a new jug or even a new lid! We sent them the attached photo and explained our situation well and they still weren't willing to refund us. This is simply unacceptable. There are better pitchers and much better customer service. look elsewhere
