Wears out too quickly

Great wet stone for the home for those experienced with wet stone. An attractive plastic storage box serves as a stand for the wet stone. In use, the stone sits securely in a flexible spacer included in the plastic stand. Stone size is good for kitchen knives, double grit works as advertised - lower number for cutting and higher number for finishing. Quickly sharpen my knives. As this is a wet stone, it is important to soak the stone in water for about 10-15 minutes before use and keep it wet while sharpening. It's a bit messy to use, and cleaning is necessary to remove sharpening residue from knives, rocks, and surrounding surfaces. Inexperienced sharpeners should use the angle guide included in this set, bearing in mind that it is much easier to keep a knife sharp than it is to sharpen a very dull knife. I have not "registered" with Makarto, which is required to receive their free knife sharpening guide. Instead, I found instructions online. After a few months of use, there was noticeable wear on the "thin" side. A leveling stone cannot completely restore a level surface. This stone, rough on one side, has an effective effect. I prefer DMT or natural stones over synthetic whetstones. However, using the rough side and a ceramic sharpening stone (or similar fine-grit device) gives my knives a decent sharpness.

Pros
  • DUAL FUNCTION BLOCK This carefully designed tool is actually two bricks in one. When choosing the perfect wet stone knife sharpener, you will need a stone with a lower grit for sharpening and a higher grit for polishing. One side of our stone is numbered 1000 and is designed to sharpen dull blades precisely and accurately. The other side of #6000 offers a luxurious polishing effect. Our aluminum sharpening stone ensures that your knives work at their best.
Cons
  • Not bad, but...
