I have dozens of my own controllers in a year. I was hoping this one would reach the advertised 100 feet. But alas, he died 32 feet away in a doorway, but with no walls or other obstacles. It was almost exactly the same distance to failure as another controller 5 years ago. With many controllers, I've found only one controller that could go over 80 feet with outside walls in the way. It was a remote IR expander operating at 900MHz. This is a more complex task than just giving an on-off signal. Thus, it can be performed with superior technique. Unfortunately, this is just another two-bit design.
