One of the persistent problems with trailer plugs is that if they are left attached to the back of the car and left uncovered, they form a rust-like coating that prevents current from passing through. So when you plug the trailer in, the lights won't work! That's why I bought this device. First you need to clean the electrical connector on both the car and the trailer. Once you've done that and made sure the trailer lights are working, unplug them and put this cover on. You need to pierce the ball cap so you can remove it later and cover the car connector so there are no more problems when you connect the trailer headlights!
