Review on display4top Portable No Gas MIG 130 Plus Welder by Doug Booth

Absolutely Amazing

I was amazed at how well this thing welded. If you've never used a flux core before, this process is cleaner than pure CO2, but maybe a little squispier than mixed gas. The current generation of cored wire welding technology is as good as MIG welding technology in terms of productivity and weld quality - nothing beats the first generation welders sold by local hardware stores a few years ago. You just have to remember to clean the welds before the second pass - just like you would with a stick. The spatter is very little though, the flow is nice and even and the welds come out nice. Literally in 10 minutes I took it out of the box, loaded the wire and welded it. Absolutely amazing for $100. The flashlight is a little small, but not bad - the small trigger takes some getting used to with normal heavy welding gloves. Has smooth stepless current control. Works from a standard 15A socket. The base is slightly shorter than the gun hose (gun=6ft, base=5ft) - a little shorter but not bad. The case appears to be 18-gauge powder-coated steel - a very solid construction. It has adjustable pressure roller tension and spool friction. Supplied with 1 pound spool of .031 wire. I had no problem welding a 1/4" lap at about 90 amps. The little brush that comes with it is pretty cool - it's a combo brush/tomahawk/scraper and it works pretty well. I think she'll last this thing long enough Using up half that coil pays for itself easily.
