This is a really good sling. I think it's more important to keep the brand consistent with your knives when it's that brand, but it's perfect for general purposes, if maybe a bit short. The skin is really excellent. This is a high quality vegetable tanned leather, 8 oz (1/8", 3.2mm) thick, very durable. The density is important so that the belt does not round ("duplicate") the edge (side of the belt). body) is specially prepared for use as a sling. It has a very short and even pile that picks up filler very well. There are absolutely no defects on the front such as folds, hooks or marks. The texture itself is very smooth. I couldn't pick the best leather for it when I could choose from a skin.The shape seems optimized to fit a drawer or other storage element.If I were designing the sling I would make it longer and thinner to accommodate it easier to make long snips on it with a knife but works great and it's easy to adjust your stroke to your leather surface I can't tell you what the wood is but it feels waxy g like teak, which is great for situations where it might come into contact with water, like in the kitchen or near water stones used for sharpening. In any case, it is quite stiff and well made. Overall a very good sling, excellent materials and excellent workmanship.
