I originally wrote a 5 star review saying this is the ONLY hub that stays permanently connected to your MacBook Yes it detaches very easily the hub is ALWAYS on even when my macbook was off for hours which made me worry about how much battery it was using.After measuring the battery drop overnight with and without the hub I set found that this hub used 11% of my battery in 8 hours* by itself in other words if you leave your laptop unplugged for a day it will use a third of your battery it's PERFECTLY unacceptable you had no reason to turn on the light - it doesn't work so I only recommend this center if your MacBook is plugged in most of the time If you're using it re is a terrible drain on the battery. Unfortunately I now have to bring this back and look for another hub that doesn't turn on a totally unnecessary light.
