I have had good experience with KN and my Mann Filter O-Ring was leaking on my BMW E90 even though properly installed and tightened. What I particularly noticed is that the two o-rings are very flexible and more flexible than Mann kits. The copper washer is about the same. The extra flex was just what I needed to keep the hull from leaking, which it did. It looks like a good filter and it works great in my car. It can be an uphill battle, but the BMW oil cap has a plastic clip that stays open and oil flows. Can't speak to other reviews but my experience so far has been great.
