Keeping my fish friends warm during our "winter "

I live in Central Florida and most of the time our house is too warm but not too cold. I bought an aquarium about 9 months ago and completely forgot that it will be about 3 weeks that the temperature in our house will be too low for our tropical fish. I used to use standard small tank dial heaters. Since I was using it on a large bow front tank, I needed a heater that I could select from a much more specific temperature rather than a general range. Direct instructions were absent, but setup was fairly easy and intuitive. The suction cups on the back of the heater were nice and strong, worked straight away and held tight from day of arrival. The temperature stays right where I set it and the fish are happy. I would like to point out that I really like that the controls are outside of the reservoir, making it easy to adjust and keep dry. Many require you to dip your hands in the water and remove the lid. One really important thing to note about this setup is that there isn't anything outside to hang the control box. What some might say, well, let it be. It's not safe. Whenever you install anything electrical in your tank, you need to create a drip loop. A dangling box prevents this. If you don't know what a drip loop is, Google will quickly show you how to properly create one. Aside from needing something that doesn't exist to create a drip loop, this is a great heater.

Pros
  • Auto shut off when out of water.
Cons
