Review on Versatile and Sturdy: Performance Tool W54025 Portable Multipurpose Workbench and Vise (200 lbs Capacity) by Rick Rogers

As long as your expectations are not very high, this is the place to be.

This is exactly what I expected; a cheap "workbench" that gets the job done if you don't expect too much from it. But it serves its purpose admirably; It was cheap, easy to assemble, light weight and strong enough for what I needed. I have a few work colleagues at home, but I didn't want to spend that much on my current situation (military base abroad). So I sent him over so he would have something better than a stack of tires to work on small projects. Pros: It was cheap enough that I didn't shed a tear at the end of this tour; Assembly was very easy (even "tools" for assembly are included); it folds up enough for storage and is easy to carry thanks to its light weight; and he's strong enough to operate a gantry, up to 200 pounds, or so they say. The paint is well applied, so it should stay rust free for a while. Cons: As said, it's cheap; stamped metal, chipboard, plastic parts. It certainly doesn't have the "reconfigured" qualities of my Workmate benches, as materials and design are the bare minimum to achieve functionality. The work surface is small, even if you open the table top to the maximum. And about the opening mechanism; Unlike my workbench, each side rotates independently and doesn't have much clamping force. The "benches", little plastic things, aren't really strong enough or big enough to provide enough support; They hold the board to cut, but they don't hold the material strong enough to work with (like a door that can be hinged). Despite all that, I'm still happy with the purchase. This is exactly what I expected and sufficient for the type of work it will be used for here. I would even consider buying a pair for the house as improved goats. Sure, they won't replace my Black & Decker Workmates or my Keter folding desktop, but for less than half the price of the cheapest model, they certainly make up for the shortcomings.

Pros
  • Table top with grid, ruler and protractor for added convenience
Cons
  • Small change
