Great little emergency radio/light/charger

Very pretty little emergency all-rounder. Recently, Hawaii had a major hurricane that was about to make landfall, and while it didn't severely affect most of the islands, it posed a serious threat. Things like that make you check your disaster preparedness kits, and that was it the one thing we didn't have and couldn't get before the storm. Having the radio on hand is very important and I liked that it has various ways of getting power including a crank, a small solar panel and a 1000mah rechargeable battery. It also has a decent light and the ability to charge your devices via the USB port on the back. The device feels pretty solid for a cheaper plastic build. I think it should hold up with the right care, but it's not necessarily built to be thrown. I find the processing appropriate for the price. The radio works as I hope. It's easy enough to get through to stations, and with the help of a telescopic antenna, it's very good at picking up the signal. The speaker is cheap and there isn't much to say about it, but it is more than functional for its intended use. I think the problem with this type of handheld radio is that because they are not used very often between possible disasters, the batteries lose their capacity and become almost useless unless you keep turning it by hand while using it . I suspect this could be an issue with this radio and as such it is probably important to keep it at around half charge and check on it from time to time and charge as needed to keep the battery healthy. Overall I think it's great and important to have and hopefully I'll never really have to reconsider its importance, but I think it's a good deal for the price and I'd recommend it.
