LOVE this item. I've had mine for a few years now (still works great) and just bought another one as a gift. I genuinely think this is one of the best methods of preserving wine given two factors: 1) how well the wine actually tastes after a few days, and 2) the cost. I have tried several relatively inexpensive wine preservatives and this one is the best in my opinion. It won't retain the wine flavor for more than a few days (again in my opinion) so don't expect it. PS A year or two ago I read an article by a sommelier testing different wines. preservation methods. Everything from those air intakes, to the balloon method, to nitrogen systems that some restaurants use that cost tens of thousands of dollars. The bottom line is that he/she felt that the best tasting wine comes from using these cheap vacuum pump devices. I felt better that I hadn't bought a $30,000 nitrogen wine preservation system. hahaha :-D
