Review on πŸ”§ FJC 6905 High Performance 1.5 CFM Vacuum Pump by Jeff Grindley

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Works best in air conditioning tools and equipment

The dealer charged $1200 for a compressor replacement (bad clutch coil) on my 2003 Accord. Anyone who does occasional maintenance can replace the compressor, but most don't have the necessary vacuum pump. What a wonderful thing the internet is! Paid $262 for the compressor, $90 for this pump, $20 for the R-134a and voila. This pump saved me $828. I already had a gauge manifold, but if I didn't have one I could buy one for about $60. Within 10 minutes I saw 28 inches on the bottom bead gauge. I let it pump another 2 hours, got 29 inches as it turned out, and then charged the system. This pump doesn't need to do much and did a great job of what I needed. It comes with the required bottle. Pump oil that must be topped up before the pump is switched on. I've retired from professional automotive service, so I can't attest to its durability in many uses, but it feels like a solidly built device to me. In fact, if it only works for ONE computer but saved me $828, it's worth the reasonable price.
