Great value for money

This was perfect for my car air conditioner. Was a little worried it wouldn't pull a full vacuum as other reviews said the numbers were under 29 inches. Not sure if it's just the altitude (I'm 12 feet above sea level so the barometric pressure here is about 30 inches), but mine stretched as close to full vacuum as you'd expect ( according to my distributor). sensor, it was definitely over 29.5 inches of mercury).

Pros
  • Everything is great!
Cons
  • Long delivery time

Oil flooded: vacuum pumps

When I opened the box and saw the vacuum pump, I saw a sign that said "IMPORTANT, the pump does not contain oil, add oil before work." I opened the plastic bag to get the pump out but it was covered in oil so I had to wash it. Before I added the oil I noticed there was some oil in it but from the sight glass it was low. When I put in the oil that came with the pump, the oil level didn't rise at all. I don't know if I should use it or order from another seller.

Pros
  • Ideal for outdoor activities
Cons
  • Disappear

Good pump for the money

Good pump for the money. The pump worked smoothly, quietly and coped with its task. You will see some complaints of oil residue on the pump, it is checked and drained at the factory but some remain in the pump. I had very little around the filler hole and the brass fittings on both caps were loose. I would take it as normal as the box is scattered in transit, just wipe clean, fill with the oil provided and get your job done. In terms of wattage, I live in Hawaii and my house is about 10 feet…

Pros
  • Few competitors
Cons
  • I have no particular complaints about it, everything is fine

Works best in air conditioning tools and equipment

The dealer charged $1200 for a compressor replacement (bad clutch coil) on my 2003 Accord. Anyone who does occasional maintenance can replace the compressor, but most don't have the necessary vacuum pump. What a wonderful thing the internet is! Paid $262 for the compressor, $90 for this pump, $20 for the R-134a and voila. This pump saved me $828. I already had a gauge manifold, but if I didn't have one I could buy one for about $60. Within 10 minutes I saw 28 inches on the bottom bead gauge. I…

Pros
  • Sleek design
Cons
  • I will add later

Mostly junk, poor quality, but it works.

*sigh* Bought this pump for an AC vacuum system, worked *great* straight away. Then I put it aside, pumped air into the AC to check for leaks, and fired it up again to suck the system. *HUMMMMMMMMMM SPARK*. Died before I could pull the plug. I figured I could pay the postage, send it back and get another one but I knew what was wrong so I decided to take it apart and see what it was made out of. Of course, the starter capacitor of the engine failed. Not out of service, the rivets holding the…

Pros
  • High marks for support and durability from testers
Cons
  • Not as thick as other picks
