My house is full of small DIY holes from the previous owner that aren't big enough to fit the RJ45 head of an ethernet cable through. Rather than widen those holes I decided to use this tool so I could use them as is. I didn't realize that a crimp tool could be bad, I just assumed I was screwing something up until I read some other reviews and knew what to look for. My tool also failed to push the RJ45's teeth into the wires and make a connection. It took probably 4 or 5 tries until it finally worked. Wouldn't be comfortable trying to make very specific length wire due to that issue, and it's probably worth spending a little more to get something that consistently works.
