The main bathroom is currently undergoing renovation. I bought an expensive Rubi tile leveling system, 1/8 inch clamps, wedges and a tension tool which were expensive. I was not happy with installing my 12x24 tile with the tension tool due to broken clips. Rubi's clamps could not level large tiles without breaking them. 1-2 out of 10 break. These tiles have been placed on the wall and should stay where you put them. The homemade spacers I bought from Revain are the same size as the Rubi product. I was able to use wedges and tension with no problems. I tested my tile setup this morning and am happy with the results. I removed 100 staples by hitting them on the edge with a rubber mallet and they all snapped under the surface of the tile. I will continue with the other 3 walls today and should be finished in a couple of days. For those who are struggling and say it is inconvenient to use, there is a simple solution. Use an edge trowel to clean the edges of the tile before inserting the clips. After laying a few tiles, come back with a sponge and clean the tiles.
