Review on ๐ŸฆŽ VIVOSUN Reptile Heat Lamp Bulb - 125W High Intensity Self-Ballasted UVA UVB Mercury Vapor Light Bulb for Reptiles, Amphibians, and Birds, Ideal for Optimal Heating by Holly Walker

Revainrating 5 out of 5

This lamp has no lifetime. Or an accident?

I usually buy incandescent bulbs before they burn out. So if I replace one, I buy another, so two months later I already have a bulb in stock to replace. Replaced a broken lightbulb with this one today. Worked fine all day. However, when I turned off the lamp, there was a loud click. I hear the same sound here when a light bulb burns out. Literally took a day. And now I can't give it back. Edit, Day 2: Not sure if it was an accident, but I unscrewed the lightbulb this morning and checked for signs of burnout. The lightbulb seemed to work so I screwed it back in and it came on again. Hopefully it will continue to work as advertised but for now I'll have to wait and see. In the meantime I will change the rating of the product. Week 1: After about a week of using this bulb, it turned out to be pretty good. After the initial hiccup, it's been pretty consistent. I am happy with the performance of the product and just hope that the lamp life will last. This product went from a 1 star rating to a 4 star rating. If the lamp lasts about 3 months, I'll definitely give it 5 stars. Let's wait! Addendum, 09/27/21. The bulb has literally lasted almost a full year since I've used it. The ambient temperature inside the case has dropped a few degrees, but since it's been taking so long I can't see anything wrong with that! I can't wait for them to have 125 watt bulbs again. This light was amazing!

Pros
  • 100% thermal efficiency: mercury lamp, heat sources 24 hours; Tungsten filament or halogen provides infrared radiation; Mercury vapor emits ultraviolet radiation; Strong UV-B production but no dangerous UV-C emissions
Cons
  • Not as good as it says
