Bought for $130 in Summer 2015 for pool testing; My water is too strange for standard "chlorine level" tests to work reliably, and I had algae to prove it. Well ok it's not a magic wand and I'm still struggling with algae but the Hanna tester itself still works and continues to be accurate as far as I can tell. I use Hanna 70300 storage solution, a little per cap each time. I think it's just saline. It splatters in your face every time you close the cap, but I'm not dead yet. I also have Hanna 7160 cleaning solution which I used for the first time today (in three years, still relevant!) and it didn't seem to have any to make difference. I think the latter is probably just a persulfate oxidizer solution; the instrument itself reports a pH of 1.6 and an ORP of 860 mV when immersed.
