Bought for $130 in Summer 2015 for pool testing; My water is too strange for standard "chlorine level" tests to work reliably, and I had algae to prove it. Well ok it's not a magic wand and I'm still struggling with algae but the Hanna tester itself still works and continues to be accurate as far as I can tell. I use Hanna 70300 storage solution, a little per cap each time. I think it's just saline. It splatters in your face every time you close the cap, but I'm not dead yet. I also have Hannaโ€ฆ

Great when it behaves

It delivers consistent results in half the time, settles quickly and gives me confidence it's doing a good job. In cases where I've compared it to other methods (more on that in the next paragraph), it's been a good fit. The calibration was pretty decent to begin with, but I did a 2-point calibration in pH 4 and pH 7 buffers anyway, just to be sure. However, the other half of the time this thing randomly jumps around the entire pH range from 0 to 14. I haven't proven it to myself yet, but it'sโ€ฆ

  • Excellent construction

  • Crumpled packaging

It took a lot of effort to make it work

I bought a Hanna HI 98121 gauge to test the water in the pool. I had never used a pH/ORP meter before and didn't know what to expect. It took a lot of effort to get it working, but in the end it works fine and I'm happy with it. As others have noted, the storage solution that came with the hat has dried up. I couldn't get the pH to stay in calibration and the ORP function gave erroneous results. So I exchanged it for another of the same model. The replacement meter had the exact same problemsโ€ฆ
