Internal Pros and Cons

ProductCorsair iCUE H115i 280mm Elite CapellixCPU Specs: Intel i7 4790K 4.0GHz/4.4GHz Boost. (removed. Has mx5 between die and heatspreader) Mobo: z97x-ud5h-bk Replaced my 6-7 year old AIO cooler with this one. Obviously they deteriorate and work less efficiently after about 5 years. Low. Workload test: Prime95 + avx2 + smallfft instructions. Note. I still have to limit the power to 105W to avoid instantaneous high power consumption causing my machine to shut down. Thus, during workload, performance is throttled but not thermally controlled. I also drop the core and cache voltages by 0.06V. Pros + temps never go above 70 on Prime95 + avx2 + smallfft. + The fans don't even reach maximum speed for me. + Virtually noiseless. The zero speed is a great feature. + The software is really nice and allows you to control a lot of things. + Thermal paste is already applied to the copper surface of the pump. To be honest, this can be a plus or a minus. + Beautiful colors and many color options. + Black or white pump logo that can be swapped out. + Commander allows you to connect other case fans (5 or 6?) if you want to control them with iCUE software. + The software allows you to set up custom schedules to control each fan/pump independently. Cons - A bit pricey. - Huge trouble to install in @$$. (But it's worth it.) It took 2-3 hours to install. Fastening the radiator to the case requires a lot of strength, effort and is not easy. I had to get a male screwdriver to "get it done". The instructions say to install the heatsink first and then install the fans on the heatsink. I wouldn't do it retrospectively. I would install the fans on the heatsink first and then everything on the case. I ended up just throwing a few pucks away because it was such a hassle and they kept falling off. I had to remove my memory and GPU because my screwdriver was too long to screw in the fans. The LGA1150 mobile device mounting bracket is a bit springy as it doesn't sit flush with the motherboard. My old mount was z-shaped so it was flush. Judging by the pace, it didn't matter in the end. But I still don't like it. The iCUE software requires some CPU usage and I wish it was a little less. 0.1% - 0.3% in the background, 0.8% in the foreground when viewing charts. The commander's device is a web of wires. I put mine in the top drive bay. ConclusionBuy. It works. Since I won't be removing it, the one-time install problem seems worth it. Remarks I was confused thinking that the bracket doesn't fit my car. They enter and exit by sliding along the bracket. I was scared until I found out. The manual is organized differently than most manuals. Usually the instructions are in English first and all the steps are in English. French, all levels French, etc. Each level and all languages for that level together. I think it saves money. But I didn't know there were more steps and I was wondering how to connect the commander not realizing the steps are at the end of the guide. I didn't like it that much at first. My motherboard has multiple heatsinks along the voltage regulators. The height of the heatsinks prevented me from installing one of the fans properly. I solved this problem by putting double-sided mounting tape between the fan and the heatsink (being careful not to block the airflow) instead of using screws.

Pros
  • Great for me
Cons
  • No Instructions
