Review on FibreX ABS 1 75Mm 500G Black by Brad Schaefer

Good workmanship in terms of design and appearance, but thread breakage cost me a lot of money

I had planned a product demo online. I made my product in a press using a typical cheap Amazon (Sunlu) press. I sometimes had trouble with large parts warping, so despite the high cost, I decided to give this product a try. My larger industrial pieces are 190g so at 36.00/500g this will have a significant impact on my margin but I thought it might be worth increasing the strength and reducing buckling as advertised. As for warping, it's hard to say as I've still seen some combat issues with angles somewhat similar to the Sunlu press. I print these parts in an orientation that suppresses buckling, sometimes with a part out of bed contact, but built solely into the support structures. So that critical support is separated cleanly, which has never been an issue with Sunlu's abs. Well, unfortunately, this product just didn't work for me. I've had repeated thread breaks in a small 500g reel when I've never had one in a 1000g Sunlu reel. Also, the supports ended up being very difficult to remove. That's good because I think the layer-to-layer adhesion is very good, but again not very good. I'll try again but for the price this should work reliably and with 20 machines running day in and day out for this particular part I can't spend all day chasing broken ends. it would be disastrous.

Pros
  • Ideal for building construction applications
Cons
  • Expensive
