Review on πŸ”§ Schroder RS40064 Ratcheting Tap Wrench: Compact & Versatile 1/4-Inch Tool for Efficient Tapping by Joe Garczynski

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Average quality, no better than alleged fakes

No better than the $10-12 version sold elsewhere on Revain and looks essentially identical to them. but lacks both design and quality. 1) It is designed for a wide variety of taps (from M3 to M8), but for smaller sizes, especially M3 or #4, it is too heavy and may warp or damage threads. made entirely of softer materials. The knurled area could be useful for precision work if it were on the bottom of the key and not where the palm rests. 2) The T-handle, as many have noted, has no central lock and slides freely. 3) In terms of quality, perfect fit and workmanship, I can hardly believe that this is "Made in Germany". It really doesn't look or feel any different than the identical looking wrenches sold by Drill Warehouse and many other lesser known companies. In comparison, my General Tools or Gyros knobs (apparently made in the same factory in India) seem to be better finished and finished and just overall look and feel better. 4) If you're buying this wrench for its ratchet, know that it only has 8 teeth, which means it requires a 45 degree arc for each turn. I don't remember seeing an 8 tooth ratchet anywhere these days, this one looks like a relic. All in all I'm not sure what the rave positive reviews are about, it was just a waste of money.
