I hand washed this cap thoroughly before use. During use, gray drops of water dripped onto the hob. When I rubbed the lid where the glass meets the steel (a thin black rubber pad surrounds that area), black streaks appeared on my towel. The same black streaks appeared when I rubbed the underside of the rolled edge of the rim (I can't see it, but there's probably a black rubber pad there too). I tried washing the lid in the dishwasher, the problem remained. Rubber grommets/seals do not appear to be watertight or heat resistant and may drip onto cooked food. Not an appetizing thought. I will no longer use this case.
