Graduated Compression Feels Comfortable & Not As Tight-Versatile As Look & Feel Like Regular Socks

I’ve tried a number of styles of NuVein compression socks and am impressed with all of them. These 15-20 mmHg compression travel socks are a ribbed fabric made of 90% nylon and 10% spandex with a simple line pattern that women or men can wear. These graduated compression socks feel and look more like regular, medium weight knit trouser socks as compared to most compression socks I’ve tried. These seem strong and durable. The fit on me is taut from top to bottom, yet super comfortable. These feel more like light than medium compression to me, but it may be because of the graduated compression design as these definitely fit me tighter in the feet and ankles and gradually feel less tight on up through the calves. The bands at top come up just below my knees. They don’t dig in and feel comfortable all day. The bands stretch out a bit but the socks don’t fall down, and the bands return to size when washed.I’m wearing the size L, but I’m on the border of size M and L on the size chart. These feel snug on my feet (but my toes still have wiggle room), even though my shoe size is a women’s 10-1/2 (only size M on size chart). These feel perfect with no sagging around my ankles that measure 9-1/4” (borderline M and L on size chart). These fit less tight and comfortable on up through my calves that measure 15-1/2” at the widest point (size M or L on size chart). The L feels good, but I may be able to wear an M based on the size chart. I’ll update as to the difference in fit if I try the size M.I do wear size M and L in other NuVein styles. One style also labeled 15-20 mmHg is made of a thicker hose-like fabric. It feels tighter and like it gives me more compression, but I can’t say for sure as it may just be the design and fabric. Whether a bit lighter compression or not, I like these travel socks for the office as they aren’t binding and help me with minor aching and swelling I tend to get as the weather gets hotter from sitting so much for commute and work. These did have a slight new fabric odor, but it dissipated quickly and washing eliminates it. 5 stars. Made in the USA.6/13/19 Update: I received a pair in size M, and they fit too. The only difference I can notice from L is they don’t come up as close to my knees, and the feet fit a little shorter (but I still have wiggle room in the toes). Neither size is a struggle to get on, and the amount of compression and comfort feels the same in both sizes.

Pros
  • Comfort
Cons
  • Putting the second sock on it tore from my fingers that were pulling it up.
