I needed nails to hold it in place. The plastic is too difficult to bend. This is not an item that you will use immediately. you will work something This of course does NOT cover the entire staircase as advertised. There is about 2 inches of open carpet on either side if you center it on a step, which is what most people do. But most importantly, the price of this product is too high. If you can solve all these problems, then once installed, it is a worthy product. Durable and not slippery.
