Unless you have high inlet water pressure (>60 psi), you need this pump. I also recommend purchasing a solenoid valve (ASIN B007XVEDFW) to replace the hydraulic auto shut off that comes with most reverse osmosis systems. This way you know that both the pump and the water supply start and stop at the same time. There is nothing against an Aquatec permeate pump. You will be amazed by the speed and efficiency (low waste water) of this combination. The best place for a booster pump is just before the reverse osmosis membrane, but if you place it there, be sure to flush any new carbon filters thoroughly before attaching the pump. Otherwise, it may become clogged with carbon particles. You can also attach it where the supply line enters. You should also reduce the flow restrictor as there will be less waste water. I use 200-300mL/min for a 50GPD membrane.
