Review on Twin Bubble Airlock and Carboy Bung (Pack of 2): Superior Quality Fermentation Accessories for Home Brewing and Wine Making by Jerry Toscano

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Good price! Nice job and nice to look at! Note so they don't fall out

I bought them as spare gateways and spares. They work GREAT, but if you ferment too much they still pop out (like all other plugs - the fermentation gas pushes it out further). The wine will never get into the locks, so all you have to do is purify the water you pour into the lock itself. Not sure if any part of it can get dirty to be cleaned, the rubber stopper is the only part that can come into contact with wine, so just open the sluice, rinse the bottom and sterilize the stopper the normal way. .As for the popup problem, here is my solution. It works out! I tied a zip around the neck just below the protruding glass ring at the top of the bottle. Tight enough not to slip through the top but with a small gap where the zipper closes. Then I folded a long bread ribbon in half and slipped both halves through the small hole in the tie. I held one end of the bread tape and twisted the other end of the bread tape to the opposite side of the rubber stopper. I pressed the rubber stopper where I wanted it and tightened the bread tie on both ends. Then fold both sides of the bread ribbon around the ribbon on either side of the bottle. I didn't have to turn the loaves, just bending the ends of the bread tape was enough to prevent the rubber stopper from popping back out, after all you're just stopping the bubbles, so it was a very light constant pressure that forced the rubber stopper back. Hope that helps!
