Review on Efficient White Egg Slicer Tool for Skilled Cooks by Meagan Thompson

I bought this to replace one we had for four years that ended up breaking. This one is smaller than our old one. We use it for slicing mushrooms and this slicer is not suitable for some large mushrooms. It looks like it would be perfect for the egg. So why only 2 stars? It doesn't quite cut! In the "fully closed" position, the wires barely pass between the plastic guides. Also, the wires are weaker than our old one, resulting in the mushrooms being crushed before being cut. Loose wires are also part of the "don't cut them" problem. If the wires "give" a bit in the middle of what you cut (mushroom in our case) they will never reach the plastic guides but will get stuck in the mushroom. So you have to pull the mushroom against the wires to complete the cut, but this will result in the back of the mushroom being ripped off and making a mess. I recommend finding another cut, at least for mushrooms. I only gave 2 stars because we didn't try anything else.
