My daughter and I recently got a hot glue gun - and indeed it has changed the world of crafting, building, inventions and more generally creative chaos. We looked at a lot of cool projects that weren't so much about gluing things together as they were about making things with hot glue (fridge magnets, drawing templates, embellishments) that could be more fun and interesting than just plain old glue and glue. The goals of such projects are generally 5 stars: a) a large number of sticks b) a diverse set of colors c) they look very cool after the set d) the colors allow you to sculpt almost anything - we even have dishes and Harness made for their LOL dolls! But the gloss/color clearly undermines the stickiness of the adhesive. They aren't nearly as binding/sticky/durable as regular old clear Elmers or Gorilla sticks. A huge stat to keep an eye on and downgrading to 4 stars. As such, I would only buy them for glue-as-object projects, although anyone with a glue gun probably already has the standard sticks. So it's a nice addition/accessory.
