Lately I've been using a 24 inch 1440p 144hz monitor and ALSO a 4k TV to play a lot of games. Flight sim is the biggest @ 4k.4k flight sim on a 50 inch tv is crazy! But my 2070Super didn't give me the frames I wanted. Also, the slow response times of TVs make it so fast that games like Horizon Zero Dawn just don't feel right compared to a 144Hz 1ms panel. Well, I said to myself, I'll buy a 3080 and everything will be fine. But then of course I couldn't believe it. So I decided to split the difference between price and quality and go for an ultra wide monitor. I agree with most of the reviews here in terms of image quality, stand quality, and responsiveness. etc. First off, HDR is stupid as hell on Windows. I will say that. It gives extra brightness to clouds etc. and fills in some effects like fire and smoke. I don't think it's useless. It's more of a realism than "OMG LOOK AT PERTY COLORS" especially on this HDR400 monitor seems like nonsense but it's better than nothing in my opinion. I ran a free VESA HDR test (you can find it in the Windows Store) and it seemed to be close to 500 nits. Of course, I'm no expert, so someone who does know should do so and get in touch. And now the bad news. The first one I got was really good but had a weird "hair" or notch under the dead center of the screen! It also had a tiny black pixel far right. A pixel I could deal with as the pixels are tiny at 3440x1440p but not tiny 4k. Taunts me every time I open Google. But hey, Revane is great and he sent me another monitor. The new one, dare I say it, seems better quality, lighter (the old one had a bit of bleeding) and spooky (little halos, I don't think I launched a UFO). Definitely I will update my review if anything goes wrong. on. Seems to be a good monitor. My only real concern is that going from 4k to 3440x1440p will result in a minor amount of distortion in my flight sim, which I wasn't expecting. It's probably more of a software issue, but still sitting on the couch and playing 4k is pretty much alias free compared to 2ft from the monitor. In general everything is fine. If you have a good color profile, please feel free to post! EDIT: The new monitor also has a tiny dead pixel at the bottom. No big deal, cheer up. I don't know if I'm paranoid either, but I have a feeling that some windows will blink a weird "line" across the screen. I don't know if that's a sign of ultra-wide. Just eat for though. Not sure about the quality of the panel but time will tell. EDIT #2: I don't like the halos on this panel very much. Apparently I had a TN panel before, so that's probably a shock. The colors are of course better and ultrawide is great! Looks like they dropped the price by $60! bah! I think it was worth waiting a few days.
