Review on Acer XZ342CK Pbmiiphx Certified DisplayHDR400 Ultrawide Screen, 3440X1440, High Dynamic Range & Curved Design by Sam Wood

Revainrating 5 out of 5

This is the 34 inch curved ultra wide monitor you've been looking for!

I've had this monitor for a few days now and I really love it. I just bought a flat Samsung 34" Ultra Wide VA (SJ55W) from Costco which I had problems with so I returned it and the difference was better with Acer day and night. The option to enable gsync is shown , and when I enable it, it works without flickering. I've already played Rocket League and THPS 1+2 for several hours and everything went smoothly with no problems. Both games run smoothly at 144 Hz at 3440 x 1440 x 1070 and really show, how vivid colors can be on this VA panel.I have tweaked the color profile on this monitor several times and recommend this to suit your liking, depending on the setting you may end up with a harsh looking image compared to the factory settings. There is a few good comments here in the Revain reviews with nice color settings In addition this monitor is very bright, colors and brightness are even across the screen ver divides, even in the corners. I currently have my monitor brightness set to around 60% and I'm fine with that. The experience I've described so far has been with my Windows PC, I've also used it with my Macbook Pro 15" for software development and it worked great on that too. Text is easy to read and viewing angles are great, the only thing which takes some getting used to is the curvature as it is definitely quite curved.Another reviewer mentioned that they didn't think the curvature was Rs 1500 but it seems to me that it really is.All that more is curved would be overkill in my opinion The only options I was given for refresh rate on the Mac were 60Hz, 75Hz and 100Hz I think the flickering can occur every 5 minutes As soon as I switched the Mac to 75Hz the problem went away I'm not sure if this is a problem with the Mac or with it being connected to the HDMI input eat is. I connected a windows computer to the displayport with the cable that came with it and didn't notice the same problem. The inputs are recognized fairly quickly and it switches between them without any problems. The screen display has many options and is quite easy to use with the joystick. The only thing I noticed is that if you want to switch inputs manually, you have to click about 3-4 options, not just quick side-to-side input switching like other monitors. I've mounted this monitor on top of two other 27" Dell IPS HDR displays and the colors and brightness are definitely comparable. The only thing that shines IPS is that text is a bit sharper, but even that's a bit better. For a VA panel, I'm really impressed with the clarity of this display. The box that this monitor came in was pretty massive despite looking pretty plain. Inside were just foam monitor mounts, which appeared to be fairly protective, and an HDMI and DisplayPort cable. The power cord for this is just a straight cord with no bricks, which is nice. The stand is pretty decent too, I haven't used the stand at all since installing this monitor but the stand looks nice and solid and I don't think there will be any problems holding this monitor like a monitor itself. not too hard. I've been looking for a decent 34" ultrawide monitor to buy at this price point and so far I've been happy with it until I run into unforeseen issues *knock on wood*. I'll definitely keep him.
