I bought this lathe in October (2020). I've been waiting to post a review to get a good idea of overall performance. Pros first.* Very easy to assemble* Spins at perfect speed. Not too fast or too slow. My cups always have a perfectly flat surface.* The hole where the stick sits (at the bottom) provides more stability.* The overall size is well balanced. It's not a problem, just a nuisance.* The included foam is awful! These are strips of glue on one side. This is unacceptable. Foam must be adjustable to fit different cup sizes. So my work is as follows. (See photo of this part and ignore the green tape. It currently holds the handle on my lathe). I went to the Dollar Tree and bought pool noodles. These noodles are slightly smaller in diameter than the more expensive noodles, so they're still too small for the average jar. So I used some of the strips that came with it and attached them to the pasta. Now I can put on and take off the noodles for different cup sizes. I also took a dollar wood soccer ball and just cut a hole in it with my styrofoam knife. A simple solution to a very annoying problem. Overall, I really like this gymnast. I read the reviews a week before buying. I was very worried about which one to choose because there are so many positive and negative reviews for each of them. In the end I decided on one and got started. I was concerned that this one would eventually stop working, but it was great. I've made at least 50 ish cups since I got this. Based on my experience with this lathe I ordered a second one a few weeks ago. I assume that will also go well. Last advice. Make sure the rod screw is securely fastened to the lathe. My wood turner started "knocking" when turning today. I almost had a seizure. Then I started troubleshooting and found that my screw was a bit loose. I tightened it CAREFULLY and it started spinning smoothly again. Overall I would recommend this turner. There is a star deduction for the 2 negative points mentioned. However, I will probably order a third one. :)
