TL;DR The display is one of the best with some of the best viewing angles for its size and price. Good photo. The touchscreen function works and is rather mediocre. Ideal for Raspberry Pi projects that require a screen that can be viewed from any angle. Long Version: I bought this for a music player project I'm working on with a Raspberry Pi 4. I bought this after researching the 7 inch display with good viewing angles. I originally received the official Raspberry Pi 7 display and decided to put it aside after the terrible vertical viewing angles. On Raspberry Pi 4 I had to modify the config.txt file to get the display to show correctly. Just a few quick comparisons between this and the official RPI indicator. Touch control support: Touch control support works well here. Responsive and fairly accurate. The official one seems to be more responsive to multi-touch, but the difference isn't huge. It's possible to use extra USB power for self-powering instead of pulling it from the raspberry pi. Very well suited for Raspberry Pi projects that may use a cheap power supply or are already quite exhausted in terms of power consumption. You may see flickering when trying to draw power from a Raspberry Pi that cannot supply enough power. In this case, you need an additional power supply unit, which is not included in the scope of delivery. Mine worked fine using the power of the Pi. The downside is that it's quite bulky compared to the official device, which plugs directly into the GPO pins on the board. From the top it frees the GPO pins for other headgear, like hifiberry dac pro+ in my case. Display: This is where it really shines compared to the official 7-inch display. I had an official display on a higher shelf that was at an angle. "With the official version, the image is almost indistinguishable unless I look directly at it. However, the Longruner display doesn't suffer from this problem. I can look at it from any angle and see the image and text clearly The picture quality is crisp and clear, the colors are rich and warm This is great as I use the display to show album art and list the title, artist and album when I'm playing music and when I'm not playing music , I set it to switch to time mode so it works like a clock See both modes clearly from any angle and distance in this space. Overall I am very happy with this screen for my project.
