dimensions listed are outside dimensions. . .

Yet again you cannot trust the dimensions given on amazon, it's as if the seller thinks you want to know the outside dimensions of the box and not the inside dimensions. Well I've got news, it's a container, which means things go inside of it, which means that if I am buying a container for a specific thing, I care far more about the inside dimensions than the outside. The inside dimensions are not listed anywhere, as is typical for some reason, meaning you have to go through a tedious rigamarole of ordering and returning boxes until you find the right one for your application, which can take quite a while.
