Looking for a bread slicer and after searching many pages of "wood cutter" products with warnings about splinters in a slice of bread I kept searching until; Viola! Eureka!; and finally came across this one! I saw the weight was around 5 pounds and was impressed with how the food slicer became more stable during use. I also love that the cutting guides and bottom platform are made of the same material that plastic cutting boards are made of: white polyethylene! Very strong and durable material! And no splinters :} although the serrated bread knife cuts into the plastic leaving a groove, an inevitable compromise. This device is not a TOY like the others! It even comes with a nice bread knife and a Happy Place Products branded cotton sheath, made in the USA! And another big trump card for me! I've been baking bread since March 2020, 2 loaves a week! I'm pretty good at slicing but I always have thinner tops and thicker bottoms so I finally needed help and after opening the box and washing and assembling a very SOLID product I knew I made the right choice for me ! recommend it! My warning: I wouldn't use the dishwasher if it needs regular cleaning. I think that higher temperatures can ruin the plastic, maybe even warp and stick the edges, and high temperatures can destroy it completely! Took me 2 minutes to hand wash it and now keeping this beautiful tool is my future routine! Enjoy your meal! More quickly. Pretty cut!
