I read in the review that the emblem was pasted on cardboard. Well it's true. But this small piece is meant to be attached to the lid during shipping. This will remove the emblem. Unscrew the cap. You can now separate the backing from the emblem so you can align the emblem to your liking before attaching the emblem. Apply some rubbing alcohol to the cap where the emblem will be placed to remove oils etc. Allow to dry, then smooth and apply the emblem. Press firmly on the emblem as the adhesive is pressure sensitive. I love the hat and it looks great
