12/2018: Continuation of our original February purchase. Our bearded dragon has been looking a little lethargic lately. Since we felt that the mercury lamp we had been using for 10 months was no longer effective, we decided to replace it as a BD Christmas present. As with the first bulb, he crawled under the light almost immediately and his eyes widened. From now on we replace the light bulb every 6 months. 2/2018: If bearded dragons can love, then our dragon has two loves. One of them is my wife, who hand-fed him blueberries. Second, it is a mercury lamp. He likes to climb up and rests under the lightbulb all day. Now he looks much more alert and active. After reading other reviews and instructions that came with the lamp, I tried not to touch the lamp with my bare hands or handle it roughly. To be on the safe side, I use an inexpensive surge protector. So far no problems.
