Although I've knitted for more years than I care to count, LOL I never have the right needle size or cable length for circular needles for a new project I'm starting. And since my swatch always seems to be just the right size for the given needle size (I think that's the case for most knitters, which is why it's used as a template lol), I never get by with a different size. if I don't want to mess around with changing the drawing. I ordered this spare needle set because of its flexibility - it has all the single and circular needle combinations I need with tremendous versatility in circular needle lengths. needles, and all at a fraction of the cost of buying them individually. I usually use wooden needles as metal needles are too slippery for me (the stitches always fall off) so I was a bit concerned that the same would happen with the plastic needles that come with the kit. But I had no problems at all. These needles are very similar to wooden needles in the way the yarn "works". No, plastic isn't that good, but my wooden needles aren't that versatile. I read somewhere (no, I can't remember where) that when using this set as circular knitting needles, it often helps to put a smaller needle on the wrong side (the gauge is determined only by the right needle anyway), and Knitting is much faster. I have found this to be absolutely true and my knitting has accelerated since trying it. Obviously this trick won't work if you're using the set as individual needles. I was also a bit concerned that the connectors for the round pieces might snag my yarn, but I didn't find that to be a problem. I haven't used them for the smallest sizes, but I usually use double ended needles instead of circular when working in small sizes (like socks). The locking mechanism is uncomplicated and seems to hold up quite well - at least nothing has fallen apart with use (unlike the screw-type types that seem to keep coming loose and stitching). You insert the end into the connector, twist until it clicks, then twist again to lock. Be sure to lock BOTH ends into the connector. Overall I'm very happy I got them and I don't have a reservation at all, highly recommend them.
