I ordered these as a pattern for a crochet class I'm planning to teach, with project material. I wanted to provide my students with a working hook starter kit without a huge cost to the class. I'm glad I read the reviews, not surprised by possible shortcomings. They were all very rough and had to be sanded before they could be used. If you don't mind taking the time to improve the edge quality of these tools, they represent excellent value for money. Grinding the roughness wasn't a big deal. Big stains were usually on the hook neck or tip, but 150 very fine and some steel wool cleaned them perfectly. All hooks feel good and strong, even my smallest one felt stable. I didn't feel like I was in any danger of breaking him unless I was very rude to him. They are all marked in mm with 2 hooks that are not US standard sizes. . The markings are faint and I don't know how well they will hold up with regular use. I would recommend getting a needle gauge for future checks or other means of marking the hooks. I will probably order these for my student kits!
