Review on πŸ“Ά Enhance Wi-Fi Coverage and Connectivity with Amped ALLY-0091K Wireless Ally Plus: A Whole Home Smart Wi-Fi System by Aaron Hawk

This system showed promise, but not quite enough

I bought this system to cover my old one story house (about 2,000 square feet, built in 1911) as well as my garage apartment (about 400 square feet). ft., 32 feet from the back of the main house). It didn't work very well. I used to only use a router and a repeater. But it was tedious because depending on where I am in the house I might have to manually switch networks on my phone/iPad if I want to get a better signal. This system promised the best. By placing the device in the kitchen in the back third of my house, I was able to install an extension cord in the back bedroom of the house and then transfer it to the apartment in the garage. I now have internet in my garage apartment and throughout the back half of my main house. I've tried many, many different install locations and this was the best I could do. Something was just missing, so I decided not to let the guests living in my garage apartment suffer. Maybe my house is just better built than the ones they're building today, and that's part of the problem. Either way, it was a waste of money. And since the 30-day return period expired before I finished playing with the setting, I'm sticking with it. Pros: 1) Very easy to connect and get started right away. Setting up and managing the app is easy. 2) It's aesthetic, with no protruding stupid antennae. Cons: 1) Doesn't even come close to covering everything. My entire yard is only 7,000 square feet, but I can only cover the back of the house. Maybe those stupid antennas mean something after all. 2) No wall mount is included although there are slots on the back of the unit. But the slots are very narrow so in order to mount it to the wall I had to buy small wall anchors and then go back to the hardware store to buy very small head screws. Damn.3) There is no solution to add another extender in the same network. What comes in the box is the only thing you will get. If you need another, you have to buy a repeater, which then builds its own network, defeating the whole purpose of buying that "whole house" system. 4) Tech support doesn't seem to be very well trained. On both calls, my very simple questions had to be routed to the manager. The second guy seemed unfamiliar with the product at all. Which is odd as the website gave me the impression that this was their flagship product. Hope that helps.
