works fine once i figured it out
Initially I had a little trouble getting accurate readings when checking speed measure my lathe. It turns out that the background of what you're trying to measure needs to be completely non-reflective to work. The spindle on my lathe, though old, dirty, and dull, looked like it would work, but I couldn't read it very well. reflective band across the band. It worked great.
